  1. The Anchor

Our culture is schizophrenic. Unbridled positivity and enthusiasm are admired – it’s that whole culture of success thing. Those who struggle to stay above waterline are either celebrated as creative, tortured souls, or, thought of as losers and mopers. Sometimes I pay attention and see shit that’s hard to accept – and get dragged down. Other days – I'm stupidly optimistic!

Lyrics

I was born with an anchor
I was born with a chain
I was born with a feeling
That it’s gonna rain
I was born with a hunger
I can’t satisfy
Gonna pull me under
I never know why

Am I crazy
Like the world is
There’s an anchor
Pulls me down

Going down now - there’s an anchor
Pull me down now - pull me down

I was given a vision
Of a world so fine
But the world couldn’t live up
It was a curse in disguise
I was given to hopeful
I was given a dream
Of a world so glowing
Not a world so mean

Am I crazy
Like the world is
There’s an anchor
Pulls me down

Going down now - there’s an anchor
Pull me down now - pull me down
There’s an anchor - Going down now
There’s an anchor - pull me down

Every night, every day, Reach for light, find the way
That's my heart that's my soul, That’s the way that I roll

I was born with an anchor
I was born with a chain
I was born with a feeling
I was born with the pain
I was born with an anchor
I was born with a chain
This world might be crazy
But I’m not insane

I ain’t crazy
But the world is
There’s an anchor
Pulls me down

Going down now - there’s an anchor
Pull me down now - pull me down
There’s an anchor - Going down now
There’s an anchor - pull me down
