Some kids just have stars in their eyes. Their doodle-pad at school is chock full of amazing drawings, their mind is so active and alive, but their report card . . . It’s a tribe I can relate to, don’t know how I manage to pay bills or get things like taxes done. But I differ in that my report cards were pretty good.

Lyrics

"Pay attention" said your teachers
"Pay attention" said your shrink
All those guidance counselor notebooks
All that guidance counselor ink
But you could not do their bidding
You would close your eyes and sail

(Cuz there were) New worlds to be discovered
New seas, uncharted & wild
How easily you went there
You were an unusual child
You were a daydream machine, daydream machine
.
You can never tame a stallion
(You can ) Never catch the wind
You tried to squeeze into the box
But nothing ever kept you in
Cause you had your world of beauty
Where love ruled all the land

(Cuz there were) New worlds to be discovered
New seas, uncharted & wild
How easily you went there
You were an unusual child
You were a daydream machine, daydream machine

You heard a song, it was so lyrical lyrical
You closed your eyes and it was magical magical
Felt the vibrations at the heart of life

The walls were grey and dreary
The future 9-to-5
But your mind was full of color,
Psychedelic and alive
Cause you had your world of beauty
You could close your eyes and sail

(Cuz there were) New worlds to be discovered
New seas, uncharted & wild
How easily you went there
You were an unusual child
You were a daydream machine, daydream machine

You heard a song and it was lyrical lyrical
You closed your eyes, it was so magical magical
Felt the vibrations at the heart of life
That was the art of life
